The Bahrain Chamber this year has nominated two women for the IWEC Awards. We are very pleased to have them join us at the 12th Annual IWEC Foundation Conference being held in New Delhi, India November 10th-13th. These ladies will receive their awards from IWEC Chairwoman and Former US Ambassador, Ruth A. Davis and IWEC Conference Chairwoman, Princess Noor Asem of Jordan at the Awards Ceremony on Tuesday November 12th.

Sawsan started her career in banking where she held various positions for 23 years. While working in the banking industry, Sawsan invested in her Family Business (Al Bustani Group founded in 1987) in 2006. In 2015, Sawsan left banking and moved to manage the whole Family Group as Executive Director (CEO). The company specializes as a wholesaler of fresh fruits and vegetables importing from Asia, Middle East, Europe, North America, South America and Africa. Complementing the business line, the Group added a Bakery and Café Business Line in 2003. The company is considered the top three in the Kingdom for importing as Wholesalers of Fresh Fruits & Vegetables.
The company currently does business in UAE, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, China, Thailand, France, Holland, Netherlands, Spain, South Africa, USA and Mexico.
The Group is looking to brand its imported products to export to Gulf Countries. In addition, the company is looking to expand its list of countries to export from – especially from Europe – to add organic line.

Shaikha, who is a member of the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Bahrain, started her career working for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and eventually became the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Rashid Investment Holdings in 2007. She also currently holds a number of other key board positions in prestigious business organizations in Bahrain including the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Rashid Group is focused on retail, real estate and leisure and is functioning in several Gulf region countries and other Arab countries.
