Spanish businesswomen Anna Vicens and Isabel Alonso, co-owners respectively of the Editorial Vicens Vives and Transport group Isabel Alonso Alonso, will receive this year two of the prizes awarded by the founding of the International Women's Entrepreneurial Conference Challenge (IWEC).

The IWEC is an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona that started in 2007 in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Manhattan and the FICCI / FLO (Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) and which also has the Support from the Cape Town Chamber of Commerce (South Africa) and the United States Department of State.

The awards, which will be presented at the 9th Conference in Brussels, aims to recognize and support women entrepreneurs from all over the world.

In this 2016 edition, the IWEC Foundation will recognize the work of 42 women entrepreneurs from 21 countries, including Anna Vicens and Isabel Alonso Alonso, according to the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona.

The companies that run these 42 women have a total turnover of more than 7.24 billion dollars (6.559 billion euros) and employ more than 32,000 people distributed on five continents.

Anna Vicens is director of publications and co-owner of Editorial Vicens Vives, one of the main publishers in publications of textbooks, didactic material and educational contents.

For her part, Isabel Alonso is the general manager and co-owner of Transportes Isabel Alonso Alonso, a business group founded in 1999, specialized in international freight transport.

In its nine years of activity, the foundation has awarded 185 women entrepreneurs from 34 countries on five continents, employing more than 125,000 people and earning more than 25,000 million dollars (22,648 million euros).
